April Fools

Another first Sunday of the month, another No Bananas 5K on the Bruce Freeman trail in Chelmsford, but this month, the race went to the dogs! Literally! Here, perennial participant Kona hides in the shadows, making way for Cassius, front and center.Immediately, Great Scott Graham, buoyed by his featured spotlight in Barry's Lowell Sun running blog http://runningthevalley.wordpress.com/2012/03/31/great-scott-2/ marks his territory like any top dog and makes for an early break, with Tommy nipping at his heels.Graham and fellow E Streeter Mike Gilmore would battle it out for the best in show on this Sunday, but Kona showed a respectable placing, perhaps his best ever.

In line behind them, came plenty of other happy finishers on the crisp spring morningHere's the Top Banana herself, Ruth, carrying the torch for the Clan Crockett, whilst husband Jonathan stayed home and made an April Fool out of himself by trying to make breakfast for everyoneTom Hildreth was out running multiple laps along the course all morning, not satisfied with just bagging a 5K run for his early morning rising.Luckily, Mary Jo had Cassius to drag her along the course, whether she wanted to run fast or notDonna pauses to wave to all of her adoring fansThe early bell even saw some members of the extended E Streeter family out taking a walk along the race course. Sadly, we didn't support Anne all along like the course like she did for us last week at the Eastern States 20 miler. We're not very fashionable, but we get the job doneThe Middlesex Community College Public Affairs team, boosted by Oliver, was all smiles at the finish. Sadly, Eddie was banished to the car and wasn't able to join the photo shoot this time around.

See everyone next month! Next time, bring the kids too!
