Bananas, Bikes, and Road Race Rage

Wild weekend on the E Streeters outdoor calendar, clocking in with not one, but two 5K races, and a slew of varying length bike rides along the scenic roads of Martha's Vineyard.  Luckily, our intrepid RunCams and CycleCams were there to chronicle all the excitement for you, our dear readers!  So let's get going, shall we?
Sue, (a very cold) Courtney, John, and Scott start the wheels rolling out on Martha's Vineyard, riding to help raise money to cure multiple sclerosis!
Apparently, helmet laws only apply to some riders.
Either Courtney is still freezing out there, or she just wants John to put the CycleCam away
John runs into ANOTHER E Streeter out there (we're everywhere!) and manages to get his pic taken with Donna, who was not only riding with her husband Tom, but was helping to register riders!  She, however, would find her way off the island to run in one of the two aforementioned 5K races, unlike the other riders seen in above pics.)
Sunday morning sees a whopper of a turnout for the No Bananas 5K on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Chelmsford, and happily, the Avengers, in the throes of a record-setting weekend at the box office, were represented in the results!

Members of Clan Cassidy represented well for the family, with Brennan and DJ showing their dad how to finish in style
Too embarrassed to be seen running with their husbands, these E Streeters were content to stay in a pack, figuring they'd be spared our inane banter.  Their strategy didn't work.
And finally, a group of stalwart runners headed down to Wilmington for another 5K race, this one in honor of Kim Forte, an MCC professor who was struck and killed by a car last year in Wilmington.  For this one, the E Streeters morphed into Team MCC, and added some new running legs to the mix.  Looking mighty snappy in our matching running tees, I must say
Jonathan is all thumbs up and smiles at the race start, because he knows he'll only have to run with us for about 10 yards because he'll be leaving us in his dust momentarily

Pre-race, Donna is the toughest looking of the three, hands down.

The whole Team MCC would be out there cheering in Donna, who somehow managed to get her long-sleeve shirt off during the race, even though it was beneath her running tee!  Nobody can figure that one out.
This was the only way we could get Barry to shut up
And finally, no, we're not bragging about all the mileage we clocked this weekend.  We're trying to flash our gangsta signs because we're all wearing the same hats and tees.  Apparently, we're just not gangsta enough to pull it off. ALTHOUGH - Tommy did show some gangsta cred early on in the race, muscling his way to a better finish, albeit at the cost of an unsuspecting, smaller runner.  Road Race Rage is alive and well in Wilmington apparently, although Tommy won't be welcomed back there any time soon.

So what do you do after this kind of fast-paced weekend? Why, you run into one another at the grocery store of course!  (And take pictures in the fruit section to mortify your children.)

Wow! What an action packed weekend. The Avengers movie, bike races, road races and to top it off, produce shopping. I better step up my game if I want to keep pace. Glad to see everyone having a great time through it all.
