Born to Run on the Fourth of July

The extended E Streeters took to the crowded streets of Chelmsford today for our annual trek in the John Carson two mile race along North Road.  The day started with pouring rainfall, and even running to the start, we were accompanied by the rain.  But as soon as the race started?  Brillian sunlight and the temperature and humidity to go with it!
Pre-race, Finn and Shea are definitely the most partriotic among us, bedecked with their American flag face paintings.
Clans Nicholson, Cook, and Blake are ready to join the thousands of other runners in the chute
Josh and Johnny flex some muscle before the start. (You can't get a full appreciation of the muscles because they're wearing shirts)
Johnny apparently ran the whole race flexing the biceps
At the midway point, Finn is dusting his dad, leaving him in a crumpled pile by the roadside
A strong finish by Josh
Sean recovered enough to catch up to Finn, but still couldn't edge him at the finish.  Finn's just that strong a competitor.
Even on a day off, the Lowell Police Academy PT staff is logging the miles
Bumpa and Mamma's boys are all smiles and sweat in the finishing corrals
And finally, the families Cook, Blake and Nicholson for the post-race group shot.  Have a safe Fourth of July everyone!  Bring on the cookouts!

Great to see everyone out at the John Carson 4th of July Race. That was my first race ever back in 1996 (where I found out I was definitely not born to run). Glad to see it's still going strong. Hope everyone had a happy 4th.
